In the September issue of Lucky magazine, I picked up an interesting tidbit of fashion advice that I hadn't heard before. The magazine suggested pairing pastels with neons in the same color family, and the moment I tried on this top and blouse in J.Crew I understood what great advice that was! I never would have thought to pair these two together, and was really only trying them on at the same time without intending to pair them together in real life. But I love them together... they remind me of a refreshing sorbet combination.
One word on fit: I take a 6 in the Naomi top so the buttons won't gape down the chest. But if you have a small chest, I would recommend sizing down as it is a bit baggy everywhere else. I've heard other ladies say they had to size up in this skirt, so I went with the 6. But on me, as you can see, I have plenty of room, I may have been able to size down to a 4. It's definitely an item you want to try on before deciding on the size. But for me, this skirt did not run small. Online, only size 0 is left, but at least in my store there were a least a dozen left so be sure to check your local J.Crew for your size. Hope that helps!
Ooooo I have been adoring the eyelet skirt - it is absolutely lovely. But I don't wear neon enough to justify the purchase, I got a neon blazer that is super cute, but not overly office appropriate :P ah well!

I understand. I've really been digging the neons, hope the trend sticks around! Thanks!
Deletewhat a great color combo! thanks for posting this!
ReplyDeleteI was surprised by what a great combo it was! Thanks!
DeletePretty! Love that turquoise color on you. I like that the Natasha top has ruffles but they don't climb up the neck (like the Elizabeth or Frances camis). I have a short neck and don't like for it to look like my clothes are eating my neck. May have to pick this one up!
ReplyDeleteYes it does seem easier to wear!
DeleteI really like these two colors together. Both colors compliment you so well :-)
ReplyDeleteI was really surprised by how much I liked them together, and it was such a coincidence to pair them after I had read that little tidbit in Lucky magazine! Thanks!
DeletePastel and neon - you make it work!
ReplyDeleteThanks to Lucky! :)
DeleteThat's a great tip! I don't wear a lot of neons, but that definitely does make it easier to know how to outfit neons.
ReplyDeleteYes it seemed to make it more wearable!
