Banded shift dress, remixed

Banded shift dress in viridian green (size 6):  J.Crew Factory, fall 2012
Belt (size small):  Gap
Heels: Vince Camuto
Almond tiers necklace:  Anthropologie, spring 2011
The beauty of a dress is being able to throw it on and you're done for the day, right?  However that's also the challenge when you're trying to mix it up...it's more difficult to remix a dress compared to separates.  The first time I wore this dress I kept it pretty simple. (See it on me here.)  This time I tried to mix it up with heels (rather than boots), a belt, and a longer necklace.  I also cuffed the sleeves, which I really liked, although it lended a slightly more casual vibe.  I'm really glad I grabbed this from the Factory website on popback in January though, it's been a wonderful work dress for the winter.

What's your trick for remixing a dress?  Thanks for reading!

  3. The color is beautiful on you, and I like it paired with gray. The rolled sleeves are a nice touch. I definitely wish I had more dresses with sleeves in my closet!

    1. I know what you mean, why are dresses with sleeves so hard to come by?

    1. Thanks! It is also a serious bargain necklace, I think I paid $9.95 at Anthro!

  5. I like the idea of cuffing the sleeves, I hadn't thought of that before.

    1. I actually like the length of the sleeves better cuffed, the bracelet length is a little awkward on me! Thanks!

  7. Love this color on you, Jeannie! hehe I looooove adding belts - its definitely my go-to method for remixing a dress. But I also like adding a sweater or cardigan. I really like wearing my cashmere tee from J. Crew over a dress so it looks like a skirt, definitely a fun way to rewear a dress.

  9. Try a collared button front shirt under the dress. One of my favorite remix tricks.
